I want you to imagine this
scenario: the entire state of Washington and its 7.3 million people are on the
brink of starvation. Thousands dead. Countless more suffering. Homes abandoned.
Crops devastated. Absolutely no allies or rescue in sight. That’s
what life is like for the people of Yemen right now. And we’re causing it. For more than three years,
we’ve been a part of a brutal Saudi-led military campaign against Yemen. This
coalition, supplied by American-made missiles, bombers, guns, and jet-fuel, has
waged gruesome war against the Yemeni people. And our involvement was never even authorized. Issues like these are why I
ran for office. I want to put an end to America’s war-hungry status quo. A
month ago, I began working with Win Without War and Reps. Mark Pocan and Walter
Jones on legislation that would immediately withdraw American forces from
Yemen. Now I
want your help getting it passed. Add your name today and sponsor
our legislation — H. CON. RES. 81 — so we can finally put an end to this
barbaric and unauthorized conflict. President Eisenhower once said, “Every gun that is made, every warship
launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those
who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.” I
couldn't agree more. This is a full-blown
humanitarian crisis. World health officials have said that the nation is
approaching “a famine of biblical proportions” and as long as we continue to
fund and fuel the Saudi-led coalition, the massacre of the Yemeni people will
only continue and grow worse. We must be better than this. And I thank you
for joining me in the efforts to end our never-ending, Middle East wars. -- Rep. Ro Khanna, Congressman of 17th
District of California
