He executes the human being inside himself. - Vasily Grossman
Only one judgement is passed on the executioner - he ceases to be a human being. Through looking on his victim as less than human, he becomes his own executioner, he executes the human being inside himself. But the victim - no matter what the executioner does to kill him - remains a human being forever. - Vasily Grossman

Physician-moms still take on the majority of housework
Physicians who are mothers still take on the majority of housework, according to a new study that suggests domestic responsibilities may contribute to some doctors’ job dissatisfaction. Almost all the roughly 1,700 physician-mothers who were surveyed were married or had a partner, but a majority of them said they were solely responsible for routine child care plans and shopping for children’s clothes. The numbers were more equitable when it came to grocery shopping, cooking, and vacation planning. The survey also found that for physician-moms in “procedural” specialties — including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OB-GYNs — those who reported being in charge of five or more chores at home were more likely to desire a career change than those who were in charge of fewer tasks. SHELL’S CLIMATE LOBBYING SHIFT: Shell won’t renew its membership of the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers group after finding there was “material misalignment” between its goals and those of the U.S. lobby group. The move comes after the oil major published its first Industry Associations Climate Review, assessing its “alignment with key industry associations on climate-related policy.” Shell said it aligned with nine associations and that there was “some misalignment” with another nine. Shell CEO Ben van Beurden said in a statement that the company had evolved to meet social expectations and the commitments of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Shell and European lobby groups: Shell said that it “identified some misalignment on climate-related policy positions” with Business Europe, FuelsEurope and the European Chemical Industry Council — largely over reforming the EU Emissions Trading System. The company said it would continue its engagement to support climate policies, but “closely monitor alignment of our positions.” Shell said it was “aligned” with the European Round Table of Industrialists, the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers and the International Emissions Trading Association.
Investor pressure: Stephanie Pfeifer, CEO of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change, said Shell’s commitment to “walking away from industry groups when needed is a key step forward.” She added that investor pressure is making other companies, such as Glencore and Heidelberg Cement, also publish reviews of their lobbying practices.
