INDIAN AND PAKISTANI LOBBYING HEATS UP: EU Influence suddenly started receiving invitations to events hosted by Indian and Pakistani diplomats and friendly MEPs this week. Could the reason be deadly air strikes near the India-Pakistan border? India is at least upfront about its aims: inviting journalists to dinner at the home of its ambassador to the EU Gaitri Issar Kumar at 24 hours’ notice, with India’s view attached to the invite. Pakistan went for a more oblique route with invitations to an event about vocational education in Pakistan that resembles the German apprenticeship model. [POLITICO EU Influence, March 1, 2019]
