RUSSIA PROBES UNDER THE MICROSCOPE - The top Republican and Democrat in the Senate defended the
various probes into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Senate
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer - who has previously called on Sessions to resign
- disagreed with a similar call issued on
Thursday by leaders of the House Freedom Caucus because of the Justice
Department's handling of the investigation into the Trump campaign's possible
ties to Russian operatives and leaks to media. "My view now is very
simple: Nothing, nothing, nothing should ever interfere with the Mueller
investigation. He must be allowed to pursue that to wherever it leads,"
