WORDS MATTER

“But a hemisphere that prioritized the principle of sovereignty over all else had no desire to weigh in on Venezuela . . . except to try to keep the United States out of the political mix.” ---  Eric Farnsworth of the Council of the Americas and Americas Society

On Lincoln’s birthday in February, Trump tweeted out an obviously fake quote from the 16th president: “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years.” He later deleted it.

A fake CNN chyron went viral (this never actually appeared on the air):

The right-wing war on science didn’t start with climate change.
The Right’s anti-science attacks have ranged from decrying the teaching of evolution in public schools, pushing instead for the teaching of Creationism and Intelligent Design, to promoting anti-choice junk science about how abortions cause breast cancer and infertility.
And Republican politicians like Todd Akin (remember the “legitimate rape” guy?) rely on fake science from biased sources to push policies that restrict access to abortion. And anti-gay activists have routinely used pseudoscience that pathologizes the “homosexual lifestyle” to argue against rights for the LGBTQ community.  --  katie O'Connell, People For the American Way

NOTE: The news sources here vary.  Not all sources have the same credibility, but in an effort to share some different perspectives, they are included here.  This compendium itself cannot claim to be unbiased.  Please take into consideration where these different perspectives originate in assessing their value.  Thank you.
