Back on the world stage, Chinese leaders are hosting members of the European Union at the Sino-European summit in Beijing today, trying to butter up EU officials to move further away from the US and trade more with China. Asia experts say China wants the EU, the world's largest trading bloc, to join them in launching retaliatory action against US tariffs through the World Trade Organization. Speaking of the European Union, when Jeff Glor of CBS News asked Trump to name the United States' "biggest foe globally right now," the first "foe" Trump named was the EU. One night in Bangkok: Needham-based TripAdvisor is traveling a long distance for its latest deal: a new investment in Eatigo, the biggest restaurant reservation platform in Southeast Asia. With this new round of funding from TripAdvisor, Bangkok-based Eatigo has raised more than $25 million from investors. TripAdvisor wants to use its own restaurants business unit to expand Eatigo's presence and services across the Asia Pacific region. TechCrunch estimates that TripAdvisor is spending about $10 million on the latest investment.
